Hi Jim,
Thanks for the comments!!!! Feel free to keep 'em coming!!!
You are absolutely correct, the base timing is the problem. The chip
started with the Euro map and timing I believe. It runs AWESOME on 95
octane (not to mention 101), good on 93 octane, and pings a bit on 91
octane. I had about a 93 octane mix, and was racing with a guy I know with
a really built 383 (+ 400hp) in an old glass-back 'cuda at fwy speeds. It
wasn't even close...
I must say however that it is pinging very little with the RS2 turbo
installed. The TB hose is cool to the touch after hard runs in 85F.
And yes, I have a single pass IC from a 1991 200tq. Wasn't a great mod with
the K24, but it kicks butt with the RS2.
On the H20 injection, great mod for any high boost turbo car in any
condition, drag, street, or track. The DSM guys (mitsubishi eclipse/eagle
talon) have it down to a science, again in all conditions, drag, street, and
track. Less than $200 in parts, uses your windshield tank (has a nice
low-water idiot light), uses that blue windshield wiper fluid that is $.99 a
gallon found in every gas station in the USA (perfect blend, .499999 water,
.499999 methanol, .000001 blue dye), and needs a refill about every gasoline
refill under hard driving, less under nice driving. It also cleans ALL the
carbon, like stainless steel clean, which has been contributing to my
pinging problem. Will lower post IC temps around 30%, which is nice, but
also significantly lowers combustions chamber temps, which is the main goal.
One guy is running 26 psi of BOOST (41 psia) with 22 degrees advance. Equals
a 12 second eagle talon. On street gas...
I know it has that drag racer stigma, but it was used on I believe the WRC
for years (now banned I think). I'll demo it, and share the results with
the list. The major drawback I see to it is doing a refill every gas
fill-up.
