Ok, now I understand.

On the 92 I had, the trunk locked as soon as I pushed the button that
pops the cover. Then again, my car had a manually operated top, but I
guess the models with the power tops should lock automatically as well.
If you have to get out and manually lock the trunk to get the top down,
part of the power operation benefit is ruined.
