It's the brake light switch. They are As I Recall, Normally Closed
(i.e. without the pedal to hold the switch mechanically closed, they
are electrically "ON"). Thus, it's a simple matter of replacing the
switch. I don't recall if it's under the dash (which I think it is) or
in the intake plenum. If it's under the dash, it's a non-tool job,
look along the brake pedal stalk up under the dash until you
see a cylindrical threaded plastic device about 3 - 4 inches
long and about an inch in diameter. There will be a plunger
resting on the brake pedal strut. Just unscrew the jamb nut,
disconnect the electrical connector and replace with the new
switch. About 10 min to 30 min, depending upon your familiarity
of the underdash area, and your ability to contort like a Yoga master.
