Oil Breather Tube

I agree that Audi's original design was not one for longevity (I assume that
the NA cars have the same cast "rubber" crap that my MC has) ... but
breather hoses are not known for lasting a long time anyway.  While it is a
bit flabbergasting to see such a big price tag ... I must say that I'm glad
to see that Audi went to the effort of fashioning a repair.  Sure you pay
$90 for parts now, but at least you won't have to worry about going to the
well every few years for the $50 cast parts that were originally there.  One
option I would recommend is to shop around for price (Carlsen Audi is where
I go) ... or to get the parts descriptions to see if there aren't some of
the parts you can source from elsewhere.  My urq has a metal pipe that runs
up along the side of the block.  I've been tempted to do a similar swap on
the MC ... but the fitting at the bottom of the block on the MC is much
larger than that on the WX.  I suspect that the original can be removed and
replaced ... but never had the opportunity to check that out.  I'd suggest
that might be an option for you as well ...
