There is, wrap the ball ends and other plastic pieces in a little bit of
duct tape before closing everything back up.  A small strip inside the
ball linkage will make it hold firmer too.  The "center rod" plastic
"bridge" sounded like cornflakes getting ground the other day...but the
door still works cause the duct tape is holding all the brittle crunchy
bits in place.  I think.
