I haven't tried getting to the filter from above on my wife's car...You
certainly need to get the tray off to get to the drain plug. Speaking of
which, next time I do an oil change on either of my cars, I'm installing
Fumoto drain cocks, which make life a bit easier down the road.
My S6 is due for a change in 40 miles, so it'll be soon :)

You don't need 20-50 in this engine...shoot, I'm surprised you needed 20-50
inthe 5ktq!
With regard to oil change intervals...I'm running 5K miles on both cars. I
just don't see the need to change out the Mobil 1 more often than that...and
the math is too easy! :)
