High egt's

High egt's are from one or more of three things. High exhaust backpressure,
lean a/f or low ignition timing.

When you run 20+ psi on a turbo with a small exhaust side you could easily
see double your boost pressure. When the pressure is high the heat has a
harder time gettin out (its almost trapped).

Lean mixtures burn hot and can melt valves, even the sodium ones btdt.

Low ignition timing misses the sweet spot where it should have fired. The
mixture is not fully expanded by the time the exhaust valve opens. Out goes
the excess heat - energy that would have been used to push the piston down,
is now just let out as heat.
