feeling gassy

I've noticed lately my '87 5ktq no longer makes the 'whooooosssh' sound when
I take off the gas cap. I'm gonna get a new one, but could it be that the
fuel system is losing pressure elsewhere?

(car runs good, 1.3-4 bar, etc.)
