To amplify on this, the lamp socket is a 3 connector (dual filament) design
with only 2 connectors installed. It uses a staggered locking bulb. The 1157
is a staggered locking dual filament bulb. The oem connector is also a 3
wire connector. We verified 12V to the connectors with the ign key and the
turn signal on.
It looks like this design 'could' be used to provide a 'cheapo' fog light
(or front bumper parking light) in addition to the turn signal.
We figured out the brake lights this morning - both circuit boards had
breaks at the melted plastic hold downs by the brake socket. This caused the
metal plate to lift, preventing the connection for the positive...
