Yes, you can fit the newer, higher amp alternator
quite easily. You will need the alloy bracket that
mounts it to the block and its hardware. You also
might have to fiddle with the spacer/pulley pack on
the front of the alt. to get the belt to align
properly. I've done this twice and it's not too bad.
I see someone already mentioned the exciter wire.
This goes bad quite often. BTDTx? It's like O-NO
gauge. Of course you could also have the dreaded
"splice" problem, which thankfully is one of the few
Audi "peculiarities" I've thus far avoided.
