I got my car towed to "Autohaus Europa" <http://www.europamotors.com/>
here in San Francisco.  Since the car needed to be towed, having it taken
further away didn't seem like a reasonable option.  I was happy with their
serivce; turned out to be a few hundred dollars.  Problem was apparantly a
faulty engine sensor.  They were understanding that the car is 15 years
old and that I wasn't about to pay for major repairs, and gave me a free
estimate before doing any work.

Now that I've gotten the car fixed and finally taken care of my expired
registration and license, I'm on the road and 100% legal!  Woo-hoo!
