shift leaver problems

  Greg,

  I had a sloppy shifter problem 4 or so months back
and like other listers mentioned to you and me the
shear bolt that attatches the shift lever to the
tranny might be loose I did check that to find it was
tight but found my problem to be the ball socket that
is attatched to the shift leaver it's kinda rivited to
the leaver and it loosened up a cruise down to my
local Audi dealer solved the problem expect to pay $50
or more if it's the leaver.
 If so all you'll have to do is use a sturdy screw
driver to manuver the shift rod on top of the shift
leaver on the tranny to pop off then takeout the shear
bolt and wiggle the leaver off I allso got a new shear
bolt ant the dealer just to be safe.
