I bought a 1995 S6 Avant a couple of days ago to replace my aging 80q. What
a car!
The wastegate has a vacuum connection on the top. Nothing is connected to
it (it's open to atmospheric pressure). Is this right? Do UK spec models
not bother with a wastegate frequency valve?
Is it possible to read fault codes using a LED on this car. It has the
black and white two-pin connectors in the fusebox (+/-/K/L) as shown on
Scott Mockry's page, but I don't have access to a VAG1551. There's a lot of
talk about VAG-COM. Should I get one?
The engine appears to be functioning well - I've seen 2.1 on the boost gauge
a couple of times.
The oil temperature gauge has no illumination and no movement of the needle.
Are these faults related?
I've got (paper) Bentleys for my 80q and 100 2.2E. How does the CD version
of the A6/S6 manual compare?
I'm selling (giving away even!) my beloved 1984 Audi 80 quattro (2144cc KK
engine):
I've had it since 1990
MOT until Sep (I think - I'll find the cert and confirm) - I could get it
through another MOT, but my wife has forbidden me. On the last MOT I was
advised that the rear wheels had a little play that might need to be looked
at - probably bearings - still the originals.
Tax until end of October
1/3 tank petrol
Drives superbly
Looks a bit tatty
185k miles - daily driver until last week
I'm keeping the alloy wheels - ordinary steel wheels with 185/70 very worn
tyres on it now
It's located in Evesham, Worcestershire in the Midlands (UK)
Any offer (even silly ones) considered. Questions to paul at heneghan.co.uk
