speed and reference sensor '87 5ktq - test?

Try and clean up the connection to the ECU harness, which is in the bracket
of 3 connectors in the middle of the firewall. There may be corroded
contacts or just a loose connector. Also I'd check the wiring to the sensor
all the way from the ECU, and even loose connections at the ECU. The SJM
website has the pinouts for the ECU so you can find the ones for the
ref/timing sensor. Maybe test w/ an ohm meter and have somebody move the
cables in areas prone to vibration. Check the meter for any fluctuations,
but make sure your just not loosing contact to the meter.

Make sure the ECU light doesn't stay on for long, b/c the engine is pinging
and can hurt itself. Try reducing the boost, or higher octane, at least
temporarily till you figure this out. Good luck.
