Yes I removed the rear drive shaft as one item complete with carrier
bearing, providing you replace it in the same position as you removed it (as
I did) I suggest you will have no balance issues (I didn't)

Well you could I suppose, however I like to KIS and when doing the job on my
own the thought of the driveshafts swinging around and hitting me in the
teeth did not appeal :-( You really have to remove the subframe anyway to
do the job and with a decent Allen socket and some extensions it is not at
all difficult to remove them. Also with the wheel hubs still in place it is
easier to stop the shafts turning when you undo the bolts.
