Did you do a wet/dry compression check?
What you did is probably the dry test. A wet test is squirting some oil into
each chamber and testing again. If the numbers go up its a ring problem. If
no change, its a valve problem. That is if you have a compression problem.
That one high cyl. is a real puzzle.
My money goes down on the turbo, although when mine went south, it would fog
the intersection after driving about 2-3 blocks (not at start up) then drive
fine without major (just slight) oil consumption.
