200 Q fuel

When I had my 200 Quattro, AND the 5000 Quattro Turbo before it, I ran it on
a steady diet of Mobil Regular. I checked the fuel mileage continuously
using the on-board computer, and the 5000 CS Turbo Quattro averaged around
24 1/2 miles per gallon and the 200 around 20-21. On a long trip the 5000
CS would get around 28 or so, and the 200 might reach as high as 24, but
seldom if ever more.

The majority of my driving was here in fairly rural eastern Maine with very
little real stop and go traffic. I saw no reason to use premium fuel in
either of the cars, as there was never the slightest indication that the
engines didn't "like" the regular fuel being fed. The 5000CS was sold with
more than 215,000 miles on it, and the 200 went away with more than 135,000
miles.

Now, the "new" Quattro wagon....a '94 100CS, which now has around 55,000
miles on it, gets medium grade fuel, and my V8 ALWAYS gets super premium.
The 100CS gets in the very low 20's, and the V8 somewhat better, but at a
big difference for the 93 Octane fuel.
