Ouch.  To help solve this puzzle, what did they
do for $2500?  You can replace an awful lot of
parts for that kind of money, parts that the
collective "we" can rule out in the diagnosis.

My first guess would be bad gas.  Unless the tank
was empty and you filled it with fresh gas, you
may have gumming (when the gas dries and leaves
behind shellac-like deposits and other bad things)
in critical places. The gas filters may also be
clogged from rust from the tank formed by water
condensing in an empty tank.
