radiator filling

Has anyone tried this?
Using a Harbor Freight vacuum pump (worthless for AC work but only $8)
suck all the air out of the radiator and fill it into a vacuum?  Seems
like with a junkyard cap and some Home Depot plumbing I could avoid
breaking all those corroded vent plugs.  Will it hurt the hoses to collapse?
