Maybe that's just "when it happened". I once had a starter "go bad"
when my coupe was up on the left next door.

The pilot bearing is cheap, so you do it.
Also do the tranny input seal, don;t ask me why you'll regret it if you
don't and it starts leaking from the fresh M1 tranny goo... oh yeah,
it's a great time to replace your tranny goo, with the box out of the
car and all.
