'87 4kq: brief shifting problem

Binding linkage, and IF (don't recall now) the shifter is similar to the
type 44's likely the bone shaped link or a loose screw at the shaft
input.  Or, if you live in the northeast or any of the other places that
recently got snow, you may have accumulated some slush/snow under there,
which eventually melted?
