Jack up the car with it off.
With a gloved hand or a large rubber mallot hit the cat.
Sounds like yours is starting to break up.
You could also remove the three bolts on the front, but this quick check
will usually work.  If using your hand you need to hit it hard enough and if
using the mallot make sure you don't damage the cat.
I try to avoid being under a running car.
If this is the problem, you need to fix it before pieces of the cat plug the
exhaust.
