more info on voltage regulators

I went searching through the web on voltage regulators. One site
outlines how one guy added a diode to the VR to increase the seen
voltage drop to up the voltage:

Another site mentions the link to the human speakers site. It sells
the adjustable vr's for volvos, but has part numbers for audis. In
the $~30-40 range:
