Wayne, I had this problem for a little while, very sporadic, then got
worse. Turned out to be a loose socket --it was not turned all the way,
so the prongs/clips/whatever weren't pressing against the printed
circuit the way they should. Likely started when PO replaced a bulb or
something, because if the IC isn't removed completely the clearance is
tight and you're working blind.

I pulled the wheel so I didn't have to undo ALL the wiring harnesses to
get to the back of the instrument pod (just held in w/ screws) and was
able to check all the sockets and reseat two and replace a bulb. No
problems since, but I got the check engine light misplaced into the
upshift indicator socket, so have to get back in there again wunna'
these days.

Not so much at first, but I kinda' like the thing now actually.
It certainly is unique. --Gary
