Check out the "blue book" (the orange NADA book you have to subscribe to) or
buy the "retail version".
Either way the Pearl white is (was) a $500 deduction in the cars trade in
worth.
OUCH! but Audi charges more for it.................................
Can't find an example in my copy so take it as "urban legend" for
now.........................

Subject: Re: Is all OEM Pearl White the same?
I was always under the impression that pearl white was a many-step
process that involves something like spraying on white, waiting,
spraying on some 'pearl' stuff, waiting, then repeating to get the
desired pearlescent effect. That's how it was described to me by someone
at a bodyshop. This makes sense when you see someone's pearl car that
has had a few panels repainted -- frankenpearl is what I thought I heard
it called on the 20v list once. This also explains why the bodyshop
paint man always hates trying to match pearl.
