which way to face exhaust gaskets?

I'm probably going to face the steel toward the exhaust manifold on
all of them. They all fit that way, with the removal of about 2 mm of
the edge of the intake gasket at cylinder 2 (or 4).

IME it will be mixed, you have to be more concerned
about getting them lined up right.  Because of the
funky patterns and layouts, there are a few spots
where they only fit one way.  Use the IM gasket while
your lining them up so you are sure the IM is going to
clear the EM gaskets when you put it on.
