More Audi's on TV, now Audi headrest history....

My recollection on the 4K/80/90 headrests in Europe is that the 80 models
had the integrated raised headrests, the 90 had the separate headrests. The
raised headrests were on the uplevel CS/CD/Sport etc versions, the rest had
the non headrest rear seats.

Are you sure it was a quattro? I had an 84, and an 86 4000q, neither of
which had separate headrests. My 88 80q had the integral headrests as well.

The parents of a friend I had in High School(1986) had an 84 4000q. That
car had the open-style headrests in the back seat. I don't remember if the
fronts were open but I assume they were.

<snip
The history of the 4000 series headrests is not quite as clear to me, I'm
not sure if and when the solid separate rear hedrest were used...I know they
were around, but maybe only in Europe on the 80/90 series cars.
