It doesn't. You have to take the steering wheel off, then there is a
phillips screw inside the little access hole on the base of the
cobi-switch housing that need to be losened. Then the whole unit slides
off the column.

Not any easy fix, really. Unless you are into splicing wires and putting
in some switches that hang out the back or something. You may be able to
  clean up the combi-switch contacts enough to last you until you get a
replacement. BTW I believe that the switch is that same one that is on
many of the 5k's as well, so replacements may be easier to find.
