Mirror Memory Module '97 A6

The side mirrors do not work on my 1997 Audi A6 and I cannot find the
mirror memory module. It is not under the rear seat (as Bentley manual
says), nor is it in front of the passenger seat (as mentioned in old
message from 1999). I can't very well replace it if I can't even find
it!

Any help will be much appreciated, as I am desperate.
