it is a rectangular thing that bolts to the back of the alternator and
has a wire with a female connector that dives in through a hole in the
back of the casing to the diode plate.

about 1/3 of the way from the left and 1/4 of the way from the top,
easiest part to see is the shiny mounting tab.
