Audi Digital Dash Backlight

For reference, original Audi bulbs would run about $26. The smaller
indicator lights run about $6 each.
Note that it is possible that a dark panel in the digital dash (mine's red)
is not necessarily caused by a bad bulb. Two weeks ago 2 of 3 of my panels
were out. Today, only the speedo is dark. Conclusion: corrosion in a cable
connector. I have yet to confirm, but a recent experience with my ignition
system leads me to believe this is the case. Corrosion in a connector just
north of the Hall Sender left my 87.5 dead in the driveway. A little
careful cleaning was all it took to get it back on the road. Next stretch
of warm weather will find me performing a dash-ectomy.

The right hand panel on the orange digital dash (yes, orange, not red) on my
1987.5 CGT is out. I can see that the digi part is still working fine, but
the backlight is out, making it very hard to read. How the heck do I change
it? Anyone know what bulb it needs? Cost? Is this a pretty easy DIY? my
local auto electric place want $98 in labor plus parts...should I just get
them to do it?

TIA,
