I do on every hot run that it's available to do so (suit and tie in the
parking garage not a good idea, bttt).  At every track event (steamboat
included), the hood should be popped to allow the trapped heat to escape.
Remember turbo heat is radiant heat with no airflow.  You cook one of those
red hot, you should pop the hood and allow the radiator cycles to cool it
back down.  If you have an EGT you can easily see that the temps fall faster
and to a lower value with the hood open.

ALL turbo cars are included in this recommendation.  OR you could go the
sport quattro/rally car route and either put nice vents in above the turbo,
or drill 1in holes with screens (audi rally, even the S1).
