I did a "bastard cludge" on the Scirocco that is on my web page.  It
consisted of Ignition portion of '88 Jetta GL (Motronic) and the CIS from
'85 Scirrocco.  I would have used the whole Motronic system, but the
Junkyard had cut the harnesses and I was missing the critical components
for the EFI.

It was tedious figuring it all out, but ran perfect.

Since I have everything for the CIS-E3, I plan to go with everything for
that system.  In the end I'm sure it will be more reliable and easier to
troubleshoot.
