Fuel tank sealing (Dead Puppy)

I like the sealing idea.  I just looked at my tank with the skidplate off,
what a nightmare to r&r.  If it's rusted through where mine is rusting, it's
easily accessible from above, should be fixable in car.  I've never done it,
but I've been around airplanes a bit, and their riveted aluminum tanks
occasionally need sealing.  I'm sure it can be done, talk to an A&P
(airframe and powerplant) mechanic if automotive mechanics can't do it.
They usually hang around airports.

And if this gives you the opportunity to switch to an external fuel pump, I
want details and pictures.
