Scott,
If you want to stay happy with your ride, then don't _ever_ try an S8 -
yeah, sure, they cost almost as much as a house in the boonies, but with the
"money for almost free" loans these days..........I tried one out at the
Quattro Challenge at Mosport last summer - oooh, baby, was that ever sweet.
I agree with the consensus, however, the Type 44's make an excellent choice
for the mechanically adept, and the turbo 44's can be inexpensively modified
to produce very respectable hp:weight ratios.
I just dread 10 or so years from now shopping amongst the used Audis though.
IMHO, the 60 Minutez show separated the "wheat from the chaff" so to speak,
the true Audi enthusiasts from the "flavour/flavor (hey, I'm bilingual!) of
the month" crowd. As I've often said, when I got my first Audi it was easy
to get a nod or a wave from a fellow owner, now it seems that they think I'm
planning to carjack them.
Cheers!
