Repressurize Southerlin accumulator?

In my 87 5ktq I have a hydraulic accumulator that was rebuilt/pressurized
by Russ Southerlin a few years ago. It has performed flawlessly since
installed, by last week the dreaded dash symbol announced failure. The
brake pedal has hardened up and I have zero pumps. With engine running, I
have power steering and some brake assist.
So, here is my question: Can I repressurize the unit locally? Anyone ever
done this? The unit has the Southerlin valve already in place, so I'm
thinking 'why not find a place that can attach a nitrogen source to that
valve, and pump it up to the required pressure.'
Details of the question are: What is the required pressure? (I seem to
remember 1,500psi). And, do I need to empty any Pentosin prior to
recharging? Should I remove the unit first and take it in for pressurizing,
or can it be done on the car?
Hope someone has already traveled this path. Replies from Russ and others
are appreciated. Hope I have Russ' email address correct
