You are right - if the car has already been sold in the US, then all you
have to do is show the comparable paperwork and change the speedo. But if
it has never been sold in the US, its another story. For example. the Evo
VI is a fancy Lancer. The Feds do NOT accept that. So assuming you can get
one into Canada which is also not that easy, you will not be able to invoke
its model similarities. Same with the 911 and 959 for example. Also Audi
90 Sport and RS2...after all the RS2 is just a station wagon variant on the
Coupe, right? Does not play in Peoria unfortunately.
