Yes it was what?
I have a late 98 (98.5, alarm LEDs in the doors, etc.)
The rear of this thing doesn't tuck under anything. Does anyone else have a
better/alternate description of how their's mounts in the back?
The pollen filter is covered by it's own large plastic cover with rain
gutter, etc.
Thanks for finding the info on the battery cover for me.

yes, it was, i work at an audi bodyshop, taking these thing off all day,
do you have a early 98 maybe ?? could you see your pollen filter while this
piece was off ??? the rear tucks under the lower windshield moulding, the
battery cover just snaps into the large cover, no other pieces, if i can
remember, ill get you the part number off of it.

Thanks, Brian. That seemed to work OK. Fit like a glove. Is there
anything that captivates the rear part?
BTW, your comment about water in the pollen filter can't be true, as
this grill was not OE on the 98 A4 (but it does fit).
Now all I need is that nice battery door/cover that fits in the grill.
Can anyone hook me up with the part no. for that, and any parts needed to
mount it?
Thanks,

you take the gasket off, put the grille on and them snap the gasket on
the metal frame and over the grille !!!

Hi all,
I did finally get one of those grills, from what model year I'm not
certain,
but it does fit perfectly on my 98 A4. HOWEVER, right now it just
sits on
the gasket that separates the main engine bay from the battery/etc.
bay. The
front curve matches the curve of the gasket exactly when laid on top
of the
gasket (not pressed into it from the side), and there are small tabs
on the
bottom of the grill that act to locate the grill laterally against
the
gasket.
So the question now is: for those of you who have models equipped
with this
grill, how is this thing held on to the car?
