Yes, the Audi 4000 & Coupe GT were to compete with the BMW 3 series. I think the sticker price of my 1987 Coupe GT was in the lower 20's...

Hello all...

I have been trying to find out how much the 4kcsq's (mine's an 86) originally cost new off the lot. I tried several places online, but couldn't find any info. Would anyone have their original sticker or know what the asking price was on the 84-87 4000 quattro's? Add-on prices for options would be neat to know as well...

I was trying to get an idea of how these cars were originally marketed (target buyer?) and where they placed in the field price-wise compared to other cars in its class, VW's of the day and American models.

Was Audi looking for the BMW 3-series, Saab, smaller Mercedes class of buyer? Was the 4kq marketed as a sport family sedan (4 doors)? Unfortunately, I was pretty young when these cars were brand new (ok, I wasn't driving yet), so I don't remember the circumstances, advertising or press related to these cars...

Any info would be appreciated...
