The screwdriver trick is to take a big screwdriver, hold it against
the little metal post on the drivers side of the cam sprocket and
push it into the teeth of the cam sprocket. This should hold the cam
while you remove the bolt. I've done several times with no problem,
but some people have had trouble with it. I think if you use a long
breaker bar on the bolt you can put more strength into holding the
screwdriver.
The oil seal might be fine, but for $5 you can make sure (of course,
that's the same idea that led me from a bad rotor to removing the
front diff from my truck, but that's a story for another mailing
list).
