One of the most difficult to understand parts of the type 85 (and type
89, others...?) cars is the strange nexus of functions including the oil
pressure warning relay and the alternator light and voltage regulator.

It's rather strange that the "bad alt." warning is to light up *all* the
warning lights.  sometimes.  It's as if the instrument cluster depends
in large part on a ground through the alt brushes, mediated in part by
the oil pressure warning control unit.
