Big differences between K26s?

Hey list,
Got a pretty big shock today! (No I didn't stick my finger in a light
socket)
I was pulling the new MC out of the back of the truck, and noticed that the
turbine outlet on that turbo seemed a bit larger than the outlet of my
K27/26 hybrid. I got a measuring device out, and sure enough, the turbine
outlet on the straight K26 (from the new MC motor) is 2.25" whereas the
hybrid turbo has an outlet of 2" Big difference! Now this seems just plain
stupid! I'm thinking the hotside and turbine on the hybrid are from a KH and
it's the "small" K26, but why the heck would anyone make a "performance"
turbo with one of the small(er) exhaust sides?
