headlight switch problem

I've spent over 60 hours getting the car ready for a rally, and now this.

It appears the contacts in my headlight switch (OFF-Parking-ON) in my 1989 90q
have died.

I can turn on teh parking lights, they work.  If i lift the switch to the on
position, no headlights...low or High.  If I hold the switch down to the point
that it's ALMOST going back to the parking, the lights come on.

I have relayed both low and high beams, during the summer.

Is there a way to clean and restore the contacts...or am I SOL, and looking for
other options?
