Dave,
I am going through a similar problem with my wifes 89 200tqa. I have
disassembled the switch and cleaned all the contacts and put it back
together. The switch isnt hard to get out and you could always opt to just
get a used replacement one from say Force5 Auto or you could do what I did.
Its not a hard job, just a tad on the frustrating side with the springs
inside the switch.

Subject: headlight switch problem
I've spent over 60 hours getting the car ready for a rally, and now this.
It appears the contacts in my headlight switch (OFF-Parking-ON) in my 1989
90q
have died.
I can turn on teh parking lights, they work. If i lift the switch to the on
position, no headlights...low or High. If I hold the switch down to the
point
that it's ALMOST going back to the parking, the lights come on.
I have relayed both low and high beams, during the summer.
Is there a way to clean and restore the contacts...or am I SOL, and looking
for
other options?
-Dave
