Taka's "counterpoint" about the Ultranator

My mechanic does not run a "Bosch rebuild shop," as you call it- he
buys them from his parts supplier (I think Worldpac) just like any other
mechanic.

As for the price, the two parts were comparable in price; my mechanic
does not
try to gouge me on parts- if I can beat his price via mail-order, he's
fine with
it. Sometimes the prices I've gotten are below his cost. We have a good
relationship
and we don't try to screw each other for a couple dollars.

Is it unreasonable or unethical to post a negative experience with a
vendor?
There are complaints about Blau quite often- apparently, this is
acceptable, but if I post a bad experience with Avi's ultranator
products, all of
a sudden my mechanic is suspect, I have an agenda and a grudge? If
people can
post testimonials, people can post negative experiences just as well.

You want to know what my agenda is? It's to share information with
fellow Audi owners
and talk about Audis here on the list. I'm direct and I don't pull
punches. My
posting style probably irks quite a few listers, I'm sorry I can't
please everyone
but I have strong opinions. I have no problem being corrected by others
when I don't
know what I'm talking about- Orin corrected my alternator terminology,
that's appeciated
and educational.

I think this is getting out of hand- email me directly if you want to
continue this discussion.

And probably has something to do with the difference in price between
Avi's
products and those offered "off the shelf" by a guy who runs a "Bosch
rebuild" shop????
