Internally, it's no longer an issue because the majority are using the
Euro from yesterday and it's only a matter of time before the UK is
forced to follow suit. IMO the British Government has made a major
strategic mistake in not adopting the Euro with the first wave.

However - for visitors (e.g., from the USA) there is an unfortunate
consequence. Bureax de Change are now obsolete because travellers no
longer need to convert Deutschmarks into Francs and so forth - the
British pound will soon follow suit and that just leaves $s and yen.
Pretty well all of them have closed down, which means you may not be
able to obtain local currency (i.e., Euros) in exchange for dollars in
most of the places you used to be able to do so. Even many hotels are
no longer accepting foreign currency.

The answer is plastic - use a credit card to withdraw local currency
from an ATM or pay your hotel bll directly in the foreign currency
using a credit card - you usually get a better rate from credit card
companies anyway.
