Had new wheel fever.

Yesterday, while surfing through Ebay, I noticed some BBS wheels for Audi
for auction. They were (are) 17X8s, and suddenly I was in the midst of an
attack of "new wheel fever".
"Spoked, BBS wheels: look REALLLY sharp on the V8", I thought. Feverishly,
I looked up the appropriate size tire that might work. Priced new
tires.....
Now, bear in mind that the tires on my V8 were about a month old and I doubt
that they had more than a thousand miles on them. They are Pirellis, and so
far, seem to do very well in Maine's intriguing weather....clear, rain,
snow, fifty degrees to zero degrees....and that is just before lunch....
And the "Buy them Now" o[ption was there, too! All for less than $800
bucks. What's not to like?
Then the grinch sneaked into my consciousness. The last time that I had an
attack of "new-something fever", I convinced myself that that BMW coupe on
Ebay was fated to be mine. Oh, that was ok, but it turned out to be not
quite as good as I had hoped, and the timing was wrong, wrong, wrong.....
"You said that you were NOT going to impulse buy anything for a while," the
Grinch said.
"Yeah, yeah, right. But these are BBS WHEELS, and look at the price!"
"You said that you were NOT going to impulse buy anything for a while," the
Grinch probed.
"Yeah, yeah, right. But these big wheels would look SOOOO cool on the V8,
AND next I could get Big Reds, and...."
"AND?" the Grinch growled, scowling at me.
"I think I'll go and lie down for a while. Maybe the fever will pass", I
said.
"Why don't you do that?" the Grinch agreed.
Then my wife came in a looked at the computer screen. "Are you going to buy
those cool wheels?." she asked. "They'd look great on the V8".
"Guess not," I told her. "The Grinch made me think about it. I need to
lie down for a sec..."
She looked at me very strangely, and walked out of the room, shaking her
head.
This morning, I feel MUCH better!
