Noises - please help

something wrong with your brake system....

when you shut off the C/C, are you sure the fan stops trying to run?
because both winters I've owned my '89 90Q (non C/C) the fan has been
noisy (only when good and cold outside).  Last year it chirped
irregularly, and started doing what it doens this year, which is a nasty
grinding noise when turning left.  Boy was I glad when that went away if
I turned off the fan!

Doesn't the C/C sometimes choose on its own to run the fan when the car
is cold?
