As we know the Audi Gods and the famous VAG electrical
gremlins, the only bulletproof area is Audi´s front licence plate,
if You are careful.

Oh, in that case, You have found the light and also are familiar
in some "small" things ;-)

Ok, just my opinions ( after 130-160 kmiles ):

Body
-if no crash fixes, it is unbelieveble rustproof, ecxept the rear hatch
-problems with some switches, specially the steering wheel multi switch
( because of all that light current gets through it, no relays :(
-autocheck is too sensitive and has not enough delays
-the central lock pump is ok, but sometimes the rear locks are..
-fan motor dead
-leaky heater core

Brakes:
-UFOs are BS, usually wrapped and expensive to maintain,
 they should be G60:s.
-The bomb ( hydr. reservoir is dead, no brake assist when the
 engine is down )
-jammed rear calipers
-also there can be some cracks in the pedal bracket support

Steering/suspension:
-ZF-tandem pump or the steering gear is leaking
-The original shocks are so good, they can be still in there, will
 need renew soon
-Rear axle main bushing gone

Engine
-if not "chipped"; no major problems -if chipped; over revved
K-24, cracks at the E/H, or the leaks under the head can be found
-BB-engine mount worn
-leaky radiator
-leaky front crankshaft seal
-bad throttle switch
-some connections, solenoids and valves; usually WG/FV, ISV, B/P
-if You drive in the icy conditions, the crankcase breethe system can
freeze, if the hose is plugged and full of humidity

Drivetrain:
-not lubed propellershaft joint
-tranny driven dry ( yup, no checks at VAG-services ) Usually 44`s
 manualbox is bulletproof
-VAG autotrannys are not worth, oops sorry guys...
-Front outer joint boots
-3:rd gear synchro

I´ve owned two of those t-44 quattros and I like them more than any
other car. So I did not mean to scare hell out of You, just to tell what
I´ve found at my Audi-hobbying. ( Owned a lots of Volvos and Saabs
also and can´t even compare :)

regards
j-pm
