A gravity flow of "what" back to the pan, you mean oil? Don't forget that
oil is supplied to the turbo via 5 bar pressure, it ain't going to go into
that turbo on its own.

Heat will cause convection in the water jacket, however, but a glowing red
hot turbo needs to be run down, boiling coolant doesn't do much for
conducting heat away from a hot turbo, no matter how quickly its convecting.

I always make it a habit to drive off boost the last mile or minute of
driving assuming there are some speeds to get some air through the front of
the car so the radiator and oil cooler can do thier work. =)

Is this really true? I would think the heat of the turbo itself would create
 a gravity flow
back to the pan. I heard people call that an old wives tale. Opinions
 anyone?
